Sweet Gazoil
Solutions for the treatment of waste plastics and waste/used oils
Sweet Gazoil™ comes from a background in the treatment of heavy and used/waste oils that no other process could treat and that are typically discarded, such as vacuum tower asphalt extender (VTAE). We’ve invented and patented Surface Flash Cracking technologies which can be used to obtain high quality diesel fuels, base oils, specialty oils and asphalt additives from the even worst kinds of waste oils. Committed to a cleaner world, we have focused our efforts on developing processes to create valuable products from waste hydrocarbons, such as waste plastics and used/waste oils, that would otherwise end up polluting our environment. We have obtained 15 patents and have more than 25 patent applications deposited for our technologies.
One of our patented technologies revolves around a type of ultrafast pyrolysis called Surface Flash Cracking. Utilizing anti-fouling technologies, Surface Flash Cracking can treat waste oils and plastics like no other, providing negative greenhouse gas emissions and diverting valuable waste from landfill. We have successfully built and tested a commercial unit specialised for the treatment of VTAE, which is a type of oil that cannot be cost-effectively treated by any other process. Although waste plastics are a different feedstock than waste oils, they can be treated using the same principles.
Another patented technology includes the stabilization of cracked fuels through a cost-effective solvent extraction process, which is viable for small units.
Previously, material recovery facilities (MRFs) and recyclers have relied on China to dispose of their hard-to-recycle dirty waste plastics. However, in 2018, China implemented a material ban that prevents the importation of waste plastics that are under 99.5% pure. Exporting to China is no longer cost-effective for MRFs and recycler, and a large fraction of waste plastics is now destined for landfill.
This pushed us to transition our technology towards the treatment of hard-to-recycle mixed waste plastics. Although Surface Flash Cracking was originally developed and proven for the treatment of heavy and used/waste oils, we are transitioning it to the treatment of waste plastics (mainly PP and PE). We provide the engineering and know-how to build and operate small profitable micro-refineries, capable of cost-effectively sorting and processing various types of waste streams to recuperate valuable material and produce high quality ultra-low sulfur diesel.
