Sweet Gazoil
Solutions for the treatment of waste plastics and waste/used oils
Used oils and waste plastics are valuable materials. However, at the end of their useful life, bad disposal practices pose a considerable threat to the environment. For used oils, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that bad disposal of waste oils represents 40% of the water pollution in the USA. For plastics, because they take 100-1000 years to degrade, they pose serious problems to the environment. Moreover, recent studies and articles show that up to 8 million plastic articles end up in the ocean each year, killing millions of marine animals each year.
Statistics show that only 9% of plastics are recycled! Low recycling rates are due to the difficulty of recycling impure plastics. The costs associated with sorting and purifying mixed waste plastics are much higher than the value of the final material. In the past, 45% of the worlds plastic waste imports were accepted by China at low costs for the recyclers and sorting facilities. Since 2018, China has banned the import of recyclables having purity lower than 99.5%. Now, recyclers and material recovery facilities (MRFs) across the globe cannot cost-effectively dispose of their hard-to-recycle waste plastics, and many end up in landfills.
Grounded in a strong commitment to the environment, Sweet Gazoil’s mission is to reduce the negative impact of waste plastics and waste/used oils by providing cost-effective and innovative solutions to transform waste into valuable fuels and products. Protected by 15 patents and over 25 patent applications, our solutions revolve around the use a new ultrafast pyrolysis technology called Surface Flash Cracking (SFC). Contrary to “slow” pyrolysis and gasification, SFC is an order of magnitude more efficient and capable of producing high-quality ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) from even the most problematic waste plastics and oils with high profitability and low environmental cost. For the same fuel, SFC of waste plastics emits 4 times less GHGs than crude refineries.
Through our patented Hybrid Process, oily waste can be transformed into base oils, diesel fuels, specialty oils and inert asphalt additives.
Through our patented plastic cracking process, impure and mixed waste plastics can be cost-effectively transformed into valuable diesel fuels. This is one of the solutions for achieving a circular economy and obtaining zero waste to landfill.
